Honda began as a local company with a global vision. Today, we see ourselves as a global company with a local vision. We call it “Glocalization”. It means that all around the world we build our products close to our customers. This allows us to become part of their community and helps us anticipate as well as meet their local needs. Two excellent examples of “Glocalization” at work can be seen in the opening of Honda’s engine plant in Alliston, Ontario and in the relocation of Honda’s Head Office in Markham, Ontario.
The engine manufacturing plant increased Honda’s commitment to Canada by an additional $154 million and 340 new jobs. The plant is located on a site neighbouring Honda’s two existing manufacturing facilities in Alliston.
Honda’s engine plant produces approximately 200,000 four-cylinder engines a year to help support
the growing number of Honda vehicles built in Canada.
The location of Honda’s Head Office in Markham was selected to reflect our commitment to our associates, the community and brand. Not only is the location easily accessible for our existing associates and suppliers, but it also puts Honda in the heart of one of the fastest growing cities in the Greater Toronto Area. What’s more, Honda looks forward to working with its new local community through volunteerism, outreach programs and active community partnerships. And through our dedication to “Glocalization” Honda will be regarded as a company that Canadians want to exist – a company Canadians can trust.
